Turn left on West 48th Street. The Centria, a residential tower at #18, seems to be glass and nothing else. Cross the street and make a right at your entry point to Rockefeller Center.

BACK STORY: MOMA MIA

The Museum of Modern Art is a formidable entity in the art-and-design world: It’s not the New York Museum of Modern Art, it’s the Museum of Modern Art, also known as MoMA. It began in 1929, was bankrolled by the Rockefeller family, and moved into its International-style abode on West 53rd Street in 1939. It has undergone renovations and expansions over the years and has waded into various controversies (regarding exhibits, design and construction plans, and other things), but it is known above all else for its astounding holdings. The permanent collection includes works by Picasso, van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Cézanne, Dalí, Chagall, Kahlo, Wyeth, Warhol, Gauguin, Klee, and so many more illustrious artists.
